Ballerina Theme Night for Drawing
Once each month on the last Wednesday, we provide a model who is representative of special events or activities. One of the most popular is that of “Ballerina” and we will have a beautiful young lady assuming ballet poses in her ballet costumes for the artists to draw. This is similar to our Open Life Drawing held on Saturday mornings. No registration is necessary, bring your own supplies, whatever medium you choose, and these are monitored by Mr. Hicks. $15. Wednesday, January 27th from 6-9 PM
MOORESVILLE ART WALK
Second Friday of every Month!
For the remainder of the month the art work of Besty Birkner will be on display. Besty is presenting 74 drawings from the Field Guide to the Piedmont.
In addition to the botanical style drawing, she has a variety of still life drawings.
Betsy started down the path of fashion obsession at an early age by making 'Barbie' doll gowns. Earning her BFA in painting as a non-traditional student at Winthrop University. Painting 1950's cocktail dresses housing transparent figures and designing for ad agencies, non-profits and small business have kept her busy. Her latest focus is incorporating religious cultural icons and colors in to her bead work on antique doilies. Botanical illustration, photography and teaching color theory are secondary loves.
February Gallery Crawl will feature the art of Carlleena Person!
Join us February 12th from 6-9pm.
I am embracing my once dormant artistic side. Releasing my views and impressions of the world through vivid colors and energetic lines. I am a student of life as well as an alumni of North Carolina State University in which I obtained my BA in Liberal Arts. I label myself “self-taught” but my current teachers or “artist inspirations” are painters, writers and musicians such as Pollock, Kerouac, Coltrane, Jacob Lawrence, Langston Hughes, Hendrix and many others. I am a full-time artist and will soon add a full-time graphic designer to my title. Paint flows through my blood. Art is my soul. As I grow as an artist, I am constantly redefining my voice. The spirit of humanity inspires what comes through on the canvas. What I feel when I paint is what I hope you feel when you are lost in my abstract images of color and lines.
I was born in New jersey and spent my teenage years in North Carolina. My soul is embedded with both the north and the south. I currently live in Charlotte, NC where I have chosen to set down roots and grow artistically within the thriving Charlotte art community. I am evolving everyday as an artist and a human. My soul listens and observes its surroundings in hopes to depict reality as I see it through my eyes. Painting has consumed me and I am passionately heading toward my future as a "non-starving" artist.
