This is a class where academic drawing and vibrant color combine to create an accurate and exciting portrait. Mr. James has his roots in Impressionism. Inspired by such greats as John Singer Sergeant, Nicholai Fechin and Henry Ossawa Tanner, Mr. James pursued a style that is both academic and expressive. He is a “teachers’ teacher”. He says of his work: “when people see my art I want them to say I know that person in that painting and I know what that person is feeling.”
