Biography:
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Marlise obtained a degree in Advertising Art and Design, and worked for years as a graphic designer.  Later she interned and started her own interior design business. Her fine art pursuits have led her to study with accomplished artists in Charlotte and California and presently, internationally acclaimed Andrew Braitman. 

Artist Statement:
“If you hear a voice within you saying, ‘You are not a painter,’ then by all means paint…and that voice will be silenced”. When I read that quote by Vincent Van Gogh, it resonated and I determined to silence the voice of doubt.  I am an intuitive painter, painting from instinctive feeling rather than from conscious reasoning.  I want to inject colors in unexpected settings.  I love seeing globs of paint, and beautiful textures. I have intentionally pursued the paint-- I can’t imagine life without it.
